First compressed natural gas filling station in Croatia opened in Rijeka |
The compressed natural gas filling station was opened in Rijeka by company Energo. The station fully meets the European standards, and is the first of its kind in the country. Filling station is located in the Milutin Barač Street, and is intended for private cars as well as fueling 12 new buses for public transport that were simultaneously presented. Compressed natural gas is the fuel that offers the best compromise between environmental characteristics, the availability of energy resources and technological maturity. Because of its simple chemical composition compared to other fuels, CNG is more ecological and warrants much cleaner burning. Its benefits for vehicles are reflected in lower maintenance costs, longer engine life and significant savings in the cost of fuel compared to diesel fuel and motor gasoline. The usage of CNG fuel is growing every year, and the number of vehicles that use CNG increased at an annual rate of 30.6 percent.
