For heat transport according to the countercurrent flow principle, flow of hot and cold fluid in opposite directions. As a result, heat recovery of almost 100% is achieved. Counterflow heat exchangers therefore have a very high level of efficiency.<\/p>\n<p>In the process of reducing gas pressure by the \u201cJoule\u2013Thomson\u201d effect, the temperature is significantly reduced (approximately 0.5 \u00b0C can be estimated for each bar of reduction). The lowering of the gas temperature can cause damage to the equipment due to the formation of dangerous ice crystals due to the water contained in the vapor state in the gas. In first-stage systems heating the gas before reducing pressure is essential as, normally, high pressure jumps are involved. It is good practice that the temperature of the gas after reduction is not lower than 5\u00b0 C. One of the most consolidated methods for heating the gas in reduction cabins involves the use of heat exchangers whose heat transfer fluid is hot water or steam .
